Cameron

My shoot with Cameron is one of my favorite ones to date!  We started out indoors, and got some beautiful pictures with a black backdrop, then moved on to the park.  Cameron was three months old at the time, and has some of the most inviting blue eyes I have ever seen!  I think three months old is a great time to do baby pictures because their little personalities are starting to show, and they give the most rewarding smiles!  Cameron got a bit fussy, so our session was cut short, but there were no shortage of beautiful pictures.  I had a really hard time narrowing it down to put on my blog, so I bet her parents were happy they have ALL of the pictures, and don’t have to choose!

Newborn shoots are probably my favorite!  There is nothing more precious and beautiful than a newborn baby.  I also love them because they change so fast, so it is my job to capture all of those little things that will soon disappear.  I was so excited to do Merrin’s newborn pictures!  Merrin is my husband’s cousin’s baby- did you follow that?  It is no surprise that Merrin is gorgeous- look at her parents. She was born with a head full of hair!  I loved this shoot because we did most of the pictures in her parents’ bed.  I think there is something so cozy and beautiful about a big white bed for a newborn shoot.  Merrin was definitely happiest when she was nuzzled up with her Mommy!  She is such a pretty baby girl and I can’t wait to watch her grow!

Time sure does fly!  Little Ellie was my first newborn shoot, and here she is six months old!  It is so fun to watch babies grow and change.  I must say, Ellie is turning out to be such a beautiful little girl!  We had an early-morning summer shoot at Woodward Park.  Ellie was a happy little girl watching all the dogs and people, and playing with some toys too.  We got some great smiles out of her, which had been a bit of a challenge at her 3 month shoot.  I am sure we will be scheduling her 1 year pictures before I know it.

Although I have not updated the blog in a while, it is not because I haven’t been taking pictures.  Quite the opposite- I have been very busy and loving every minute of it!  I will try to catch you up-to-date.

I had the honor of meeting and photographing Cason as soon as he came home from the hospital.  He had a bit of a rough start, so he was two weeks old when I photographed him.  There is nothing cuter (or softer) than a brand new baby!  I really love doing newborn shoots.  Cason has beautiful eyes and the cutest little wrinkly forehead I have ever seen!  I had a wonderful time with him and his parents, and I can’t wait to take more pictures of him as he grows!

I have a new nephew, James, and I could not be more excited to show off his precious little face!  I drove up to Kansas City to meet this little man, and I absolutely fell in love!  He is just so tiny and beautiful- I could have stayed for days and days and done nothing but hold him and take pictures of him. I was so happy to celebrate his one week birthday with him!  I took lots of pictures, and I can’t wait to take more!  Here are my favorites, and I am sure I will be posting some more soon- he is coming to see me this weekend!

Mylee

Mylee was my first shoot where I could take advantage of Spring and all that it has to offer.  We met on a beautiful day during Spring Break to do her six month pictures.  She is such a cute little girl, and had all the accessories to prove it: sparkly shoes, pearls, tutu, and many bows.  We took tons of pictures, and it was so hard to narrow it down.  She especially enjoyed feasting on the daffodils, which were in full bloom!  I was so excited to hear that her parents wanted a compilation too- what a great way to showcase all of their favorite pictures!

I was so excited to photograph Ellie again!  I first met Ellie when she was just a few weeks old, and already she is a big three month old!  It is simply amazing how fast babies change, and Ellie is no exception.  She is still a beautiful little girl, but now you can really begin to see her sweet personality.  Her parents say she is a very smiley girl, but she was a little camera shy for me.  Although there weren’t as many smiles as her parents had hoped, we got some beautiful pictures to capture Ellie at three months old.  She was such a great sport.  In the hour I was at her house she had 6 wardrobe changes and lots of accessories switched in and out.  I picked my favorite pictures from the shoot- but I couldn’t even include all of her outfits in my selection.  She is a well dressed little girl!  I can’t wait to photograph her again at six months!  What a wonderful job I have, watching babies grow up and capturing those memories!

I grew up with a family wall of pictures in my house.  My parents had our pictures done every year on our birthday, and then chose their three or four favorites to have framed together to hang on the wall.  When Jack was born, I decided to do the same, starting at three months old, and then on each birthday.  We chose to have a compilation made of our favorites, which is a 10×10 collage.  We have done these with our previous photographer for each photo session and now I have done them for my boys this year.

I believe there are many perks to a compilation.  The major one is that you will always have your favorite images from that age in a special place.  Kids change so fast, and it is so fun to look back and see what they looked like a few years back.  Another benefit is that it creates a uniform look for displaying your childrens photos.  We chose to do our compilations in black and white- but you could choose anything you want.  I love to change photos out around our house to include the latest and greatest- but with the compilations I know I will always have pictures from each stage of their lives displayed.

I thought I would introduce the compilations by showing you the ones I made for Jack, 4, and Luke, 3.  Compilations are available to all of my clients, and provide a unique way to display all of your favorite pictures from your session.

Ezra

I am quite confident that Ezra is my first Ethiopian client!  Ezra was adopted from Ethiopia this summer, and now lives in Ohio with his parents.  His grandparents live in Tulsa, and are friends of the family.  Emily, Ezra’s mom, emailed me a few months ago to see if I would be interested in doing Ezra’s pictures while they were in town between Christmas and New Year’s.  We agreed that we would just have to play it by ear and see how the weather was.  I don’t think either of us ever dreamed that we would get a 70 degree day at the end of December in Tulsa!  It was absolutely perfect.  We lucked out!

Ezra just turned one this week, and I must say, he is one cute kid!  He has a smile that will melt your heart and the cutest little personality.  Unfortunately, he is a bit camera shy!  We were a bit afraid that his real personality wasn’t going to come through, but I think, in the end, we got some beautiful pictures!   I was so glad that I got the chance to photograph this beautiful little guy!

I met with Tucker, Parker, Josie and their whole family on a chilly December afternoon.  Their mom informed me that their grandparents live on a golf course- so it would be ideal for two little boys running around.  It was pretty cold, so we stayed close to the house, but it was a really fun shoot.  All three of the kids are the same age as my kids, so I was pretty confident in my ability to get smiles.  Luckily, I was right.  Tucker and Parker gave me the best authentic smiles I have had yet!  They thought my little party blower was the funniest thing in the whole world.  Everytime I blew it they would laugh and scream.  It was adorable!!

Tucker is four, Parker three, and Josie almost one.  I had some alone time with the boys outside while Josie was having wardrobe changes, so I got some great pics of them.  Tucker has the most amazing eyes, and I absolutely fell in love with Parker’s smile!  We kept Josie inside, for the most part, and she looked too cute in front of the Christmas tree.  She had her tongue out the whole time!  I know that can be frustrating for parents, but they will look back and laugh!

This was my final holiday shoot of 2010- and it was so wonderful!  I even designed their card for them.  I am so thankful that my first holiday season was such a big success!  Thank you to all of my wonderful clients!  I wish everyone a Happy 2011!!!
